Prevent skin aging with sculptra

Thanks to Sculptra (new name for New-Fill), skin aging is easy to prevent and reverse. By administering biostimulants (polylactic acid) you can powerfully stimulate the fibroblasts of the skin so that they produce collagen, elastin and connective tissue. Result: fuller and smoother skin and fewer wrinkles.

Sculptra against skin aging

Sculptra (the new name for New-Fill ) is a biodegradable polylactic acid (PLLA: Poly-L Lactic Acid) that is injected subcutaneously through the smallest possible needle. Once present in the skin it will stimulate the fibroblasts. This causes more collagen, elastin and connective tissue to be produced. The skin becomes fuller and tighter and wrinkles and hollows (such as sunken cheeks) are filled from within. Further skin aging is prevented naturally.
It is ideal for:

  • Hollow cheeks
  • Corner of mouth folds
  • Cheek folds
  • Cheekbone contours
  • Jawline contours
  • Chin line contours
  • Wrinkles of the décolleté
  • Wrinkled hands
  • Some scars

Sculptra is NOT suitable for treating superficial wrinkles such as smoker’s lines and crow’s feet. These can be treated efficiently with hyaluronic acid and/or Botox.

Course of treatment

A sculptra treatment takes a maximum of half an hour. The skin is first cleaned and locally anesthetized. A number of subcutaneous injections are then given. You may resume your daily activities on the same day.
You will most likely need three to five sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. The number of treatments ultimately required depends on the condition of your skin.

Results

The filled effect of sculptra is visible immediately after the treatment. However, a few days later you will notice that the wrinkles return again. This is completely normal because the polylactic acid, which was originally applied just under the wrinkle, now also moves to other parts of the skin. However, after one to two weeks the skin will start to produce increased collagen and elastin and the wrinkles will be filled in again.
The result of a sculptra treatment lasts approximately two to three years, depending on your genetic makeup and your lifestyle and nutritional habits. Maintenance treatment every one to two years is recommended.

Side effects

Small bruises at the injection site and slight swelling of the skin may occur in 10% of cases. However, these disappear quickly with a calendula ointment. It is also possible that a small bubble can be felt under the skin. However, this is not visible and is nothing to worry about. There are no allergic reactions.
