A quick manicure

Nails complete your outfit. And it is important that you take good care of them. How can you give a manicure?

Nail polish

Whether you choose a light polish or the color that is just on trend, nail polish accentuates your hands and is the finishing touch to your beauty ritual. When choosing your nail polish color, consider the shade of your nail polish. Use the inside of your wrist as a guide. If your skin has a bluish tint, choose cool colors; if your skin is yellowish or olive, it is best to choose warm colors. Don’t try to match the color of your fingernails and your toes, and don’t try to match your nail polish to the color of your clothes and lipstick. Different shades give a much nicer and more modern effect

Quick manicure

Keep your nails in top condition by rubbing a soft nail brush horizontally over the nails in the shower. This massages the cuticles, promotes blood circulation and makes your nails stronger. Do not push back the cuticles. Use a cuticle cream enriched with an alpha-hydroxy acid complex. This dissolves dead skin cells and keeps the cuticles in condition. Remove old nail polish with acetone. Acetone temporarily dries out the nails, allowing the new nail polish to adhere better to the nail. Shape your nails. First use nail scissors and then a file. Always file in the same direction to avoid damaging the nails. A successful manicure depends on preparation. Before painting, soak your hands in warm water and wash them with lanolin-free soap to remove any residue of the old nail polish that could weaken the new coat of nail polish. Your nails are now ready for nail polish.

Perfect nails in 4 steps

  1. Apply a quick-drying base coat and apply it thinly to create an even surface. Let the base dry for 60 seconds.
  2. Always apply nail polish in three stitches (first in the center and then on the edges). Leave some space around the cuticles for a professional finish.
  3. Apply a top coat to protect the nails.
  4. When the polish is wet, hold your fingertips under the cold tap so that the nail polish becomes rock hard.

Tips

  • Protect your nails from the sun. Use a top layer enriched with a UV filter. This also prevents discoloration
  • Never pinch your cuticles. They protect the nail bed and form a barrier against advancing bacteria. In the shower, gently push back the cuticles with a washcloth.
  • Nail polish will last longer if you keep the bottle in the refrigerator. Never shake the bottle.
  • Invest in specialty products such as base coat and top coat because they serve different purposes. A base coat feels sticky and serves to help the nail polish adhere. The base layer also ensures that dark-colored polish does not discolor the nail plate. A covering layer dries hard, makes the color beautiful and forms a hard protective layer.
