Feet are very important, they have to endure a lot. You must therefore take good care of them. But how do you take good care of your feet?
Wash them regularly
Wash your feet regularly with not too much soap or with a skin-friendly soap with a neutral PH. Dry them with a separate towel, then rinse them very well, especially between the toes. You can then treat your feet with talc or something similar.
Change shoes and socks daily
Your feet secrete an average of a quarter liter of perspiration every day. So your socks and shoes need to dry after a day. Therefore, change shoes and socks every day.
Use aids for perspiration
If you sweat more than average and suffer from sweaty feet, you can get many remedies from a drugstore, pharmacy, pedicure or through a doctor. Such as sprays, lotions and creams, to solve this problem. Not everything works equally well. It’s a matter of trying it out. There are also moisture-absorbing insoles.
Keep your feet dry and cool
Keep not only your head dry and cool, but also your feet. Clammy, warm feet are a perfect breeding ground for fungi and bacteria. Also wear shoes that provide good ventilation (leather, linen open shoes) and socks that absorb moisture.
Prevent athlete’s foot
Public areas such as gyms and swimming pools are a source of athlete’s foot contamination. Never walk there barefoot and wear slippers in the showers and changing rooms. If you suffer from athlete’s foot, you can treat it with anti-fungal cream. Go to the doctor if the fungus is persistent.
Wear good shoes
A shoe must fit properly in length, width and height. Don’t let yourself be sold shoes that still need to be broken in. Use shoes for what they were made for: sneakers for sports, hiking shoes for walking.
Exercise is healthy
Foot exercises can strengthen your foot and ankle muscles and this can prevent complaints
Don’t do everything yourself
In some cases it is better to ask someone else for help. For example, be careful when filing thickened nails. Better leave it to a pedicure. The same applies to removing calluses. Don’t be afraid to go to the doctor with your foot complaints.
