Have beautiful hair and keep beautiful hair

We all want beautiful hair but sometimes there are times when the condition of your hair is not the best. The hair is dry and dull or super greasy. Sometimes there is more to it and the hair falls out. Fortunately, this is usually a temporary thing that can be remedied. What can we do to get and keep our hair in optimal condition?

Hair care

Wash your hair every other day with a mild shampoo, do not use too much shampoo, rinse well and gently pat the hair dry. Rubbing damages the hair. When you use a conditioner, only do this on the ends. When you rinse your hair with cold water, the scales close, giving you a nicer shine. Split ends don’t look nice. If this bothers you, it is time to go to the hairdresser. When you occasionally give yourself a head massage in the shower, you stimulate the scalp and this prevents hair loss. Only comb dry hair if it has tangles. Your hair will look much nicer if you style it with your hands. That’s also better for your hair.

Hair in puberty

At the beginning of puberty, girls’ hair suddenly becomes much oilier. This happens under the influence of hormones and unfortunately there is not much you can do about it. Don’t wash your hair too often, especially not every day. Do not blow-dry, style or brush too much and do not use too many styling products. This will only make your hair greasier. Is it really that bad? Then you might consider trying a (volume) perm or color in your hair. This often makes the hair a little drier temporarily.

Hair loss

This can have several causes:

  • Long-term illness or long-term use of medication. Multiple courses of antibiotics in succession can result in hair loss.
  • After pregnancy, your hair can suddenly fall out enormously. During pregnancy, your hair falls out much less under the influence of hormones. The result is that this suddenly fails a few months after giving birth, sometimes in bunches at a time.
  • Radiation and chemotherapy.
  • Extreme diets.
  • In men, there is also a natural progression from thinning hair to baldness. The extent and manner in which this happens is hereditary and this hereditary information is located on the Y chromosome. This means that sons are often just as balding as their fathers.

Hair and nutrition

  • Vitamin B, especially Vitamin B 12, ensures healthy hair. This is found in eggs, salmon and whole grain products.
  • If you suffer from unexplained hair loss, you may have a zinc deficiency. Zinc can be found in walnuts, cashew nuts, pecan nuts, almonds, lentils and kidney beans.
  • You can stimulate hair growth by using a lot of calcium. You can find this in dairy products. Dairy products are also an important source of protein and if your hair breaks easily, you are deficient in it.
  • Dull hair will shine again under the influence of vitamin A. This can be found in carrots, spinach and broccoli.
