Skin aging, why?

All skin ages, but what are the reasons why one skin ages faster than the other?

Smoking

The nicotine in a cigarette constricts the blood vessels in the skin, causing poorer blood flow and thus the supply of oxygen and essential nutrients. As a result, the quality of elastin and collagen deteriorates dramatically. Smoking also removes a lot of vitamin C from the skin. And vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant and building block of collagen. If you start smoking you will see that you have better skin. Smoking is really bad for your skin.

Alcohol

Drinking alcohol dries out your skin enormously and removes important nutrients from your body, such as vitamins A, B, C and minerals such as magnesium and zinc. Collagen production is slowed down and the skin becomes less elastic. So be careful with alcohol.

Pollution

Air pollution such as dirt and dust that are often present today (especially in densely populated and industrial areas) are bad for the skin. Therefore, make sure you cleanse your skin thoroughly every day.

Too little exercise and poor nutrition

Because exercise maintains blood circulation in the skin and muscles, exercise is the way to keep your body and skin supple and firm. Food provides us with all the necessary nutrients that are important for beautiful skin.

Stress and sleep deprivation

You can already see it in the mirror in the morning if you have had little sleep an evening: dark circles under the skin and pale skin. It can even lead to brittle skin and premature fine lines and wrinkles. Therefore, make sure you get enough sleep. On average, a person needs 8 hours of sleep per night. Stress cannot be avoided. But it also has a major influence on skin aging.

The sun(bench)

It turns out that four out of five wrinkles are caused purely by sun damage. The sun damages elastin and collagen, and your skin also loses its firmness. It is therefore important to apply at least factor 30 to your face. When the sun is shining you should always wear sunglasses, because if you close your eyes to the sun you can also get wrinkles. Exposure to the sun can cause: skin cancer, freckles and age spots are not the only risks it can cause. Sun exposure is also responsible for varicose veins on the face, rough and leathery skin, fine wrinkles, loose skin, spots on the complexion and thick, wart-like, rough, reddish patches on the skin called actinic keratoses.
